Charlie Woods Makes History at Cognizant Classic Pre-Qualifiers
Charlie Woods, the son of golf legend Tiger Woods, made a historic debut at the Cognizant Classic pre-qualifiers in The Palm Beaches, vying for a chance to compete in a PGA TOUR event as an individual.
Competing at the Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, Charlie Woods aimed to secure a spot in the open qualifier by finishing in the top five and ties at his pre-qualifying site. The ultimate goal was to advance to the Cognizant Classic at PGA National’s Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens.
Arriving well in advance of his tee time, Charlie immersed himself in preparation, focusing on his putting and fine-tuning his game under the guidance of his caddie JJ and the support of his mother, Elin.
Sporting a blue pullover and black attire, Charlie teed off alongside fellow competitor Olin Browne Jr., son of the renowned three-time TOUR winner Olin Browne, in a twosome.
Throughout the pre-qualifying round, Charlie faced challenges but displayed a passion for the sport and a competitive spirit. With the encouragement of Hobe Sound locals and his companions, he embraced the experience of testing his skills at a high level.
Other notable players who advanced from the pre-qualifying rounds at Park Ridge Golf Club and Boca Lago include Beau Titsworth, Griffin Barela, and Trevor Johnson, among others, setting the stage for a competitive pool at the upcoming Cognizant Classic competition.
