Chelsea Interested in Aston Villa Striker Jhon Duran
Chelsea Football Club has shown a keen interest in recruiting Aston Villa‘s talented young striker, Jhon Duran. As Chelsea considers offers for their own player Armando Broja, discussions have taken place regarding Duran’s suitability for the team.
Aston Villa has already rejected an enquiry from Middlesbrough for Duran earlier this month, intending to ensure that they have sufficient cover for their forward line. Villa is also currently in talks with Middlesbrough regarding the potential transfer of Morgan Rogers. Should these discussions prove successful, Villa may then be willing to negotiate approaches for Duran.
For the time being, Duran remains with Aston Villa as they continue their pursuit of a top-four spot in the Premier League. The Colombian striker has impressed this season, having scored four goals, including two in the Premier League.
Chelsea’s interest in Duran stems from the ongoing struggles they have faced with their own striking options. With Nicolas Jackson‘s absence due to the Africa Cup of Nations and both Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broja dealing with injuries, Chelsea is in need of reinforcements in the forward department.
However, securing regular playing time for Duran is a sticking point in these potential discussions. The 20-year-old has already made 35 appearances for Aston Villa this season, and Chelsea needs to ensure that he will have enough opportunities to showcase his abilities.
One crucial factor in the potential transfer of Duran is Aston Villa’s public pursuit of Morgan Rogers. Rogers, who scored for Middlesbrough against Chelsea in the recent Carabao Cup semi-final second leg, has attracted interest from multiple clubs. Chelsea made an improved bid for Rogers after their initial two proposals were rejected by Middlesbrough. If Rogers does leave, Middlesbrough will owe a sell-on fee to Chelsea, making it a complex negotiation.
Additionally, Aston Villa has made an approach for 22-year-old Icelandic goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson from Swedish top-flight side Elfsborg. Valdimarsson has expressed his delight at the interest from the Premier League club.
