Chery Australia Recalls Almost 6000 Omoda 5 Suvs Due To Brake Defect

Chery Australia has issued a recall for 5901 units of their Omoda 5 SUV model after identifying a manufacturing defect that may lead to brake failure. This recall applies to all Omoda 5 vehicles sold in Australia since it was introduced to the local market in mid-2023.

The defect involves a loose bolt securing the brake pipe union, which can result in brake fluid leakage and diminished braking performance. Chery has warned that the reduced braking ability could pose a serious safety risk, potentially leading to accidents causing harm or even fatalities to the vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and other road users.

To rectify the issue, Chery has advised all Omoda 5 owners to contact their nearest Chery dealership. The dealer will then conduct an inspection of the brake pipe union bolt and carry out the necessary rectification, free of charge.

If you own an Omoda 5 and need assistance, Chery Australia’s Customer Care Team can be reached at 1800 424 379.
