Chivas Atlas Liga Mx Match

Guadalajara, Mexico – The atmosphere in the Estadio Jalisco is set to sizzle on Saturday, April 19, 2025, as Chivas and Atlas clash in the much-anticipated Clásico Tapatío, part of Jornada 17 of the Liga MX Clausura 2025. With Chivas in a tight race for a playoff spot, this match is crucial for their aspirations of progressing to the next round.

Chivas, coming off a significant victory against Puebla, currently sits eleventh in the standings with 20 points, just behind Pumas who occupy the final Play-In spot. To qualify, Chivas must secure a win over Atlas and hope for a loss or draw from Pumas against Tigres.

“We are focused on getting the results we need. This match is more than just a game; it’s about pride and the chance to continue our season,” said Chivas manager Gerardo Espinoza during a press conference on Friday.

Atlas, on the other hand, has been eliminated from playoff contention, sitting at thirteenth place with 17 points after a season filled with challenges. Despite their position, Atlas will seek to spoil Chivas’ hopes and end the season on a high note.

“It’s important for us to deliver a good performance and end the season strong, especially against our rivals,” said Atlas captain Camilo Vargas. “Winning this game will give us some momentum heading into the next season.”

Chivas will see the return of key players Raúl Rangel and Luis Romo, both of whom have served their suspension. However, only Rangel is expected to start. The projected lineup for Chivas includes: Raúl Rangel; Miguel Gómez, Raúl Martínez, Gilberto Sepúlveda, Mateo Chávez; Hugo Camberos, Luis Romo, Erick Gutiérrez; Roberto Alvarado, Teun Wilke, and Alan Pulido.

Atlas’s lineup will consist of: Camilo Vargas; Matheus Dória, Martín Nervo, Gaddi Aguirre; Jeremy Márquez, Aldo Rocha, Carlos Orrantia; Gustavo del Prete, Eduardo Aguirre, and Uros Djurdjevic.

The Clásico Tapatío has a storied history, with 293 matches played between these two teams since its inception. In professional era matches, Chivas have won 63 times compared to Atlas’ 52 victories, with 57 matches ending in a draw.

This edition of the Clásico, slated to kick off at 9:15 PM Central Time, promises to be more than just a regular-season match, as both teams will battle not only for three points but for the honor that comes with victory in this historic rivalry.

Football fans can catch the action live on Canal 5, TUDN, and ViX Premium. Expectations are high, and Chivas must secure their fate in a match that holds significance beyond the points.
