Columbus Ohio Winter Weather Snow Forecast

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A cold front is bringing significant changes to weather conditions in Central Ohio. Starting this evening, rain will transition to snow as temperatures drop. The snowfall is expected to continue into the morning hours.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for several counties, including Madison and Onondaga, where snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches are forecasted. These conditions could make for slippery roadways and hazardous travel during the Tuesday morning commute.

Road temperatures are likely to remain warm enough to mitigate some accumulation on major roads, but motorists should stay alert for slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses. ODOT crews are actively preparing, with salt trucks and plows ready to respond.

As temperatures fluctuate between the 20s and 30s, strong winds could further exacerbate the winter conditions, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph. Truck driver Ronald Babineaux noted the need to adjust travel plans. “Try not to be on the road. We’re going to call our dispatch because it’s probably going to get worse from here,” he said.

Those in the area are urged to plan for extra travel time and take precautions while driving. After this system passes, a more stable weather pattern is anticipated later in the week, with high pressure expected to build by Saturday.
