LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Cooper Kupp‘s future with the Los Angeles Rams remains uncertain as the team has yet to clarify its offseason plans for the veteran wide receiver. Despite a dip in production, Kupp, 31, remains a sought-after player, with several teams potentially eyeing him for a trade or free agency.

Kupp, who won the NFL’s receiving triple crown and Super Bowl MVP honors in 2021, has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. In 2024, he recorded 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns, his lowest average since 2017. Following the Rams’ divisional round playoff exit, Kupp expressed his desire to continue playing but admitted uncertainty about his future in Los Angeles. “I feel like I’ve got a lot of good football left in me,” Kupp said. “I’ll be playing football next year. That much I know.”

Among the teams speculated to pursue Kupp are the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, and Washington Commanders. The Jaguars, under new offensive coordinator Liam Coen, could pair Kupp with Trevor Lawrence to bolster their receiving corps, which already includes Christian Kirk and rookie Brian Thomas Jr. The Patriots, with rookie quarterback Drake Maye, might see Kupp as a veteran presence to accelerate Maye’s development. Meanwhile, the Commanders, led by breakout rookie Jayden Daniels, could use Kupp to complement Terry McLaurin and deepen their receiving options.

Another potential suitor is the Detroit Lions, who lack depth at wide receiver beyond Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. Kupp could serve as a reliable third option for quarterback Jared Goff, providing experience and leadership to a team on the rise. “Getting a third receiver like Kupp would give Goff a third viable option in crucial moments,” said one analyst.

Kupp’s contract, which carries significant financial implications, makes a trade challenging. However, if released, he could attract interest from multiple teams seeking a proven playmaker. The Rams, meanwhile, face a tough decision: retain a franchise icon or move on to rebuild their roster.

As the offseason unfolds, Kupp’s next destination remains one of the NFL’s most intriguing storylines. Whether he stays in Los Angeles or finds a new home, his impact on the field and in the locker room will be closely watched.
