Curtis Jones and Tino Livramento Called to England’s Senior Squad
Uncapped players Curtis Jones and Tino Livramento have been incorporated into the senior England squad for the upcoming Nations League matches. This call-up marks a significant milestone in their football careers as they join the national team for high-profile international fixtures.
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, aged 23, had previously been summoned to Gareth Southgate‘s provisional 33-man squad for Euro 2024. However, he did not make the final selection for the tournament. He has already displayed his potential by being part of the victorious Young Lions team that claimed the 2023 European Under-21 Championship under the guidance of Lee Carsley, who is currently serving as the interim manager for England.
Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento, who was involved in Carsley’s setup for the senior squad during last month’s matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland, did not feature in those games. This call-up provides another opportunity for Livramento to earn his first cap and showcase his talents on the international stage.
Meanwhile, England captain Harry Kane trained separately from the rest of the squad at St. George's Park, though he is anticipated to be fit for the upcoming matches. The disruption to his usual training routine follows a right leg injury sustained during a recent game with his club team, which has not resulted in a structural injury according to team officials.
Similarly, Manchester City‘s midfielder Jack Grealish missed training sessions due to a minor knock, with the English Football Association emphasizing the precautionary nature of his absence.
England, also known as the Three Lions, is scheduled to host Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday. Following this, the team will travel to Helsinki to face Finland on Sunday as part of their Nations League commitments.
