Cyprus Consumer’s Association Reveals Drastic Discrepancies in Petrol Prices Across the Island
The Cyprus Consumer’s Association has brought to light significant variations in petrol prices throughout the island, with some disparities exceeding 14 cents per litre, according to a recent report.
Analysis conducted by the association spanning from 2021 to 2024 unveiled the most significant contrast in Nicosia on June 6, with a discrepancy of 14 cents between the highest and lowest prices observed.
During the year 2022, Limassol showcased the widest difference in price, with a staggering 15.3 cents per litre variance between the highest and lowest rates.
Highlighting that suppliers typically operate with an average profit margin of 6 to 6.5 cents per litre, the consumer advocacy group emphasized that in a competitive market, such substantial inconsistencies in pricing should not exist.
The Cyprus Consumer’s Association has called for an investigation into the factors contributing to the diverse pricing policies seen across different districts within the island.
