After the Dallas Stars’ emotional playoff loss in Edmonton, veteran forward Joe Pavelski, contemplating his future in the NHL, received heartfelt praise from teammates Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, and Wyatt Johnston.

Pavelski, soon to turn 40, has had a storied 18-season career split between the San Jose Sharks and the Stars, amassing an impressive 1,068 points over 1,332 regular-season games and leading active players in playoff goals with 74.

Despite his ageless playing style, Pavelski’s reduced impact in this year’s playoffs has raised questions about his potential retirement, especially as he enters free agency.

Stars coach Pete DeBoer lauded Pavelski’s influence on the team, emphasizing the privilege of coaching a player of such caliber and character.

The Stars, led by Pavelski, Seguin, Benn, Ryan Suter, and others, fell short of advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second consecutive season, facing a tough defeat against the Edmonton Oilers.

As Pavelski ponders his future, the Stars must also consider the uncertain contract situations of key players such as Matt Duchene, Miro Heiskanen, Jason Robertson, and Jake Oettinger.
