Dodgers Adjust Starting Rotation Amid Pitching Injuries

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Dodgers are making adjustments to their starting rotation as they deal with a significant injury list. With 15 pitchers currently sidelined, manager Dave Roberts announced that Clayton Kershaw will now start on Sunday, June 8, instead of the originally scheduled Dustin May.
Dustin May will take the mound on Monday, June 9, allowing him to rest for an additional day after pitching last on June 2. In his last game, May allowed two earned runs over six innings in a close game against the New York Mets, which the Dodgers lost 4-3 in 10 innings.
Kershaw, who is 37 years old and a key player for the Dodgers, is coming off his fourth start of the season on June 3. Despite pitching recently, he has only managed to record a 5.17 ERA this season, allowing three earned runs in a recent game that also went into extra innings.
<p“The team’s depth has been tested, but we’re adjusting,” Roberts said in a statement. Kershaw’s performance this season has not met his usual standards, as he has struggled with consistency and decision-making on the mound.
May, with a 4.09 ERA and a 3-4 record, has been with the Dodgers since 2019 and is poised for his biggest season yet, having started 11 games. The Dodgers maintain a solid 38-26 record this year, a testament to the team’s resilience despite injuries.
The upcoming game against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 8 will be crucial as the Dodgers look to secure their position in the National League playoff race.
