Eid-ul-Fitr, known as the ‘Festival of Breaking the Fast,’ is a significant religious celebration observed by Muslims globally. It marks the completion of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

The festivities of the upcoming Eid-al-Fitr, also known as the Meethi Eid, will begin on April 11 in most regions of India. However, in Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, the Eid will be celebrated on April 10.

During Eid-al-Fitr, families, friends, and communities come together in a spirit of kindness and unity to offer their prayers to Allah and seek forgiveness for any shortcomings during Ramadan. It is a time to express gratitude for the strength to observe the fast throughout the month.

One of the central practices during Eid-al-Fitr is the tradition of Zakat al-Fitr, where those with the means donate to the less privileged in society. This act of charity blesses the donors and aids others in celebrating the festival.

On the auspicious day, Muslims dress in festive attire, exchange greetings, and indulge in delicious food items while praying for blessings and guidance from Allah. Traditional dishes like biryani, kebabs, sheer-korma, and kheer are prepared to mark the occasion.

Eid-al-Fitr signifies a time of spiritual renewal and gratitude, where individuals come together to celebrate faith, love, and generosity. The celebration varies depending on the sighting of the new moon in different regions but is universally embraced with joy and festivity.
