England is facing West Indies in the third and final Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham, hoping to complete a clean sweep in the series. Currently, England leads the series 2-0 after convincing victories at Lord’s and Trent Bridge.

The English team, looking to boost their position in the World Test Championship table, named an unchanged squad for this match. The West Indies, meanwhile, are eager to regain some pride after losing the first two matches.

After winning the toss, West Indies opted to bat first. Opening the innings were Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis, who initially faced a challenging spell from the English bowlers, who managed to extract significant movement.

Brathwaite, showing resilience, reached his 30th Test fifty and settled well at the crease. Their opening partnership seemed promising until England’s Gus Atkinson struck, inducing an edge from Louis, who was out for 26 runs, ending their 76-run stand.

As the match progressed, England’s Mark Wood showcased his bowling prowess, sending Kirk McKenzie back to the pavilion for just 12 runs with a stunning delivery that uprooted his middle stump.

However, the West Indies faced further troubles when Alick Athanaze, who was looking to stabilize the innings, attempted a pull shot only to drag the ball onto his stumps for 2 runs just before the lunch break.

As the teams retreated for lunch, West Indies found themselves at a precarious 97 for 3 after 26 overs. England’s disciplined bowling had turned the momentum, forcing the West Indies into a tough spot.

With players heading back onto the field after the break, it will be interesting to see if West Indies can recover and put up a fight, or if England will continue to dominate in their quest for a series whitewash.
