We have some sad news from the entertainment world as Erica Ash, a talented comedian and actress known for her work on shows like MADtv and Real Husbands of Hollywood, has passed away at the age of 46.

Erica died on Sunday in Los Angeles after a brave battle with cancer. Her family shared that she transitioned peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. In a heartfelt statement, they described Erica as an amazing woman and talented entertainer who left a lasting impact on many with her sharp wit and genuine zest for life.

Born on September 19, 1977, in Florida, Erica grew up in Decatur. She attended Emory University initially to study pre-medicine, but decided to take a break and head to Japan. This decision turned out to be a pivotal moment in her life as she embraced a year of new experiences and opportunities.

While in Japan, Erica became a backup singer for a Japanese artist, which opened the door to her entertainment career. She later landed roles on Logo’s The Big Gay Sketch Show and then joined MADtv for its 14th season, where she became known for her impersonations of figures like Michelle Obama.

Her career blossomed with her role as Bridgette Hart in Real Husbands of Hollywood, a parody show created by Kevin Hart. Erica also starred in the Starz drama Survivor’s Remorse and appeared in films such as Scary Movie V and the recently released We Have a Ghost.

Her talent and spirit were celebrated by colleagues, including writer and director Christopher Landon, who described her as a light and expressed his condolences to her family and friends.
