Canadian tennis player Félix Auger-Aliassime successfully advanced to the second round of men’s singles at the prestigious Miami Open. The rising star from Montreal showcased his skills as he overcame a tough challenge from Australian qualifier Adam Walton in a thrilling first-round matchup on Thursday.

Currently positioned at No. 36 in the ATP rankings, Auger-Aliassime displayed his prowess on the court with a solid 7-5, 6-4 victory over Walton. His impressive performance sets up an intriguing clash with the fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev from Germany in the upcoming round.

Joining Auger-Aliassime in the second round is fellow Canadian Denis Shapovalov, hailing from Richmond Hill, Ontario. Shapovalov secured a victory in his opening-round match on Wednesday, adding to Canada’s strong presence in the tournament.

Auger-Aliassime faced an intense battle in the opening set against Walton, who posed a serious challenge by holding a 40-15 lead in the 10th game. However, the Canadian player displayed resilience and managed to clinch the set at 7-5, showcasing his determination and skill under pressure.

Leylah Fernandez, a talented player from Laval, Quebec, is also gearing up for her opening match in Miami against Emiliana Arango from Colombia, adding to the excitement of Canadian representation in the tournament.
