Gates Foundation New Logo 2023

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, one of the world’s most influential philanthropic organizations, has unveiled a new name and logo as it marks its 25th anniversary. The rebranding, announced Friday, reflects the foundation’s ongoing commitment to global health, education, and poverty alleviation.

The organization will now be known as the Gates Foundation, dropping the names of its co-founders, Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates, who divorced in 2021. The new logo features the foundation’s initials in yellow against a dark gray background, symbolizing its mission to drive progress worldwide.

“In recognition of the legacies and contributions of Bill Gates Sr., Bill Gates, and Melinda French Gates, the foundation is rolling out a new name—the Gates Foundation,” the organization stated. “We are also introducing a new logo that reflects our unwavering commitment to support partners, communities, and programs working to improve lives around the world.”

Founded in 2000, the Gates Foundation has grown into a global powerhouse with an annual budget of $8.74 billion. Its headquarters, completed in 2011, is located in Seattle near the iconic Space Needle. Initially, staff were spread across multiple buildings in the South Lake Union area, but the organization now operates from a centralized campus.

The foundation’s work spans multiple sectors, including global health, education, agricultural development, and gender equality. It has played a pivotal role in funding vaccine initiatives, such as the Global Vaccine Alliance (Gavi), and supporting research for diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS. Additionally, the foundation invests in educational programs, sustainable agriculture, and clean water access.

“The Gates Foundation’s approach is data-driven and collaborative, working with governments, NGOs, and other organizations to address complex global challenges,” the statement added. “Our mission remains clear: to create a world where every individual has the opportunity to lead a healthy and productive life.”

As the foundation enters its next quarter-century, its rebranding signals a renewed focus on innovation and equity. Organizations seeking funding from the Gates Foundation are encouraged to align their proposals with its strategic goals, which prioritize evidence-based solutions and measurable impact.
