Geelong‘s star player Patrick Dangerfield is set to undergo a precautionary scan on his hamstring following the team’s victory over Adelaide.

Dangerfield, who played a key role in his team’s win, signaled discomfort in his left hamstring just moments before the final whistle, prompting his substitution by Mitch Knevitt.

Geelong coach Chris Scott has expressed concerns about the injury, stating that although Dangerfield initially described it as a cramp, given its location, a closer observation is necessary to determine the severity.

The Cats faced a series of setbacks leading up to the match, with Tanner Bruhn, Mitch Duncan, and Tom Atkins all dealing with various issues before the game.

Despite the challenges, Geelong delivered an impressive performance, with Tom Stewart shining in his 150th game for the club.

Scott praised the resilience of the team’s younger players who adapted well to the last-minute changes, as Geelong now boasts a 2-0 record early in the season.

Adopting a cautious approach, Scott emphasized the competitiveness of the league and the need to stay focused and humble despite the positive start.

On the opposing side, Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks acknowledged his team’s lack of composure and missed opportunities as they suffered a second consecutive defeat.

Nicks highlighted the need for improvement in execution and decision-making, particularly in the attacking third, following a match where Adelaide outpaced Geelong in inside 50s but struggled to convert chances.

The standout performance of Geelong’s Tom Stewart, who set an AFL record with 10 intercept marks, posed a significant challenge for Adelaide, with Luke Pedlar‘s defensive efforts proving insufficient against the seasoned defender.

Nicks commended Stewart’s impact on the game and acknowledged the difficulty in containing a player of his caliber.
