Ghana’s Star Player Mohammed Kudus to Miss Opening AFCON Match
Mohammed Kudus, the star player from West Ham, will be sidelined for Ghana‘s first group match in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against Cape Verde. Kudus is currently nursing an injury, which means he won’t be able to play at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Ivory Coast.
Chris Hughton, the coach in his debut AFCON tournament, has decided to stick with Richard Ofori as the starting goalkeeper. Despite competition from Lawrence Ati Zigi and Joseph Wollacott, Ofori will guard the goal for Ghana.
On the flanks, Joseph Paintsil and Jordan Ayew have been given the starting positions, while Inaki Williams, the legendary player from Athletic Club, will begin on the bench. In the midfield, Majeed Ashimeru is expected to start alongside Baba Iddrisu.
A victory in this match against Cape Verde would put Ghana at the top of Group B, following Egypt‘s 2-2 draw in their game.
