Nhl Playoffs Golden Knights Vs Oilers

Las Vegas, NV — The Vegas Golden Knights will host the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series today, May 6, 2025, at 9:30 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Arena. Fans can tune into the action on ESPN or stream it live via Fubo.

This matchup marks another chapter in the ongoing rivalry, as both teams look to gain momentum in the best-of-seven series. The Oilers advanced past the Los Angeles Kings in the first round, winning the series 4-2, demonstrating their offensive prowess led by superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

While Edmonton finished the regular season with 101 points, slightly lower than last year, their consistency and depth put them in a strong position heading into this series. Coach Kris Knoblauch highlighted the importance of contributions from players beyond McDavid and Draisaitl, stating, “We need other guys stepping up.”

The Golden Knights finished the regular season with the second-best record in the Western Conference, acquiring 110 points. They aim to leverage their home-ice advantage during the playoffs, where T-Mobile Arena has proven to be challenging for visiting teams.

Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy noted that the Oilers have a more balanced attack this year, making them a tougher opponent, stating, “Their depth is definitely better, and that’s going to have to be something we’re going to have to prepare for.”

Both teams bring playoff experience, with the Golden Knights seeking their second Stanley Cup title in three seasons, while the Oilers strive to return to the finals after a close loss last year to the Florida Panthers.

In a quick turnaround, Game 2 will occur on May 8 in Las Vegas, followed by Games 3 and 4 in Edmonton. If necessary, a deciding Game 7 is scheduled to return to Las Vegas on May 18.
