Haiden Deegan Vows to Stay Outspoken as He Eyes 450 Division
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Rising Supercross star Haiden Deegan has vowed to remain outspoken as he eyes a future move to the 450 division, though he remains tight-lipped about a definitive timeline. The 17-year-old phenom, known for his bold personality and competitive edge, made his intentions clear during a pre-race press conference ahead of the Anaheim 1 Supercross event.
“Yeah, I don’t care what people think, I will just say whatever I want,” Deegan said when asked if he would maintain his candid demeanor in the 450 class. “That’s just how I will be, and that’s how I will be this year too. But we got to focus on winning first, and then we will start messing with some people!”
Deegan, who has already made waves in the 250 division, didn’t shy away from addressing rival Jett Lawrence‘s recent comments. “I heard guys like Jett already say I’m not even in his league, which I think is funny because on our best day on a 250, I think he wouldn’t be able to stand a chance, right, on outdoors,” Deegan said, sparking further intrigue in their budding rivalry.
The young rider also reflected on his debut at Anaheim 1, acknowledging the nerves that come with such a high-profile event. “There are always nerves, but I felt like I kind of learned how to tame that,” he said. “I have been in situations where the nerves are hitting the most. I have had clutch championships, tied in points, I have won a championship by a lot of points. I have kind of figured it out now, being able to control the nerves mentally.”
While Deegan’s focus remains on securing a Supercross title in the 250 class, he expressed excitement about the prospect of eventually competing against Lawrence in the 450 division. “I have definitely worked hard to get to the point where people are talking like that,” he said. “The rivalry is cool, no matter what sized bike we are. It gets people talking, grows the sport, and gets people to join in each weekend. That’s kind of the big thing — let the people talk, and we will go do our work out here.”
Deegan’s comments have added fuel to the fire of one of Supercross’s most anticipated rivalries, drawing attention from fans and fellow riders alike. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Deegan to see if he can back up his bold words with results on the track.
