FC Homburg Draws Final Game, Prepares for Saarland Cup

Fulda, Germany – FC Homburg ended their Regionalliga season with a 1:1 draw against SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz on Saturday. The result secured them an eighth-place finish in the league.
The match began slowly for Homburg, who struggled in the first half. Fulda captain Patrick Schaaf nearly gave his team the lead early with a header, but Homburg goalkeeper Tom Kretzschmar made a crucial save just four minutes in.
Homburg faced more challenges when goalkeeper Kretzschmar had to make several key stops to avoid an early deficit. In the 33rd minute, Phillipp Steinhart also had to leave the field due to injury, adding to Homburg’s woes.
After halftime, Homburg fell behind when Kevin Hillmann’s shot, deflected by a defender, found the net in the 48th minute. However, the team responded with increased pressure, including a shot from Nico Jörg that hit the crossbar in the 55th minute.
In the 80th minute, Benjamin Kirchhoff leveled the score with a goal from within a crowded penalty area, marking a significant comeback for Homburg.
“In Fulda, it’s always difficult. After going down 0:1, we fought back well,” FCH coach Roland Seitz said following the match. Homburg now shifts its focus to the Saarland Cup final against FC Palatia Limbach, scheduled for next Saturday at 5:30 PM.
