Houston Astros’ Home to be Renamed Daikin Park Starting January 1
The Houston Astros announced a significant change to their home stadium, as it will be renamed Daikin Park effective January 1, 2025. This change is part of a 15-year naming rights partnership with Daikin, a Japanese air conditioning company.
Daikin, which has its North American base in the Houston area, will not only lend its name to the stadium but also collaborate with the Astros to support local community programs, including educational initiatives.
This marks the first time a Japanese company has acquired the naming rights to an MLB team’s home stadium. Daikin has a substantial presence in the U.S., with over 22,000 employees across the group and a significant investment in the Houston metropolitan area, including the Daikin Texas Technology Park, which was established in 2017.
The Houston Astros, founded in 1962 and part of the American League West Division, have had notable success in recent years, winning the World Series in 2017 and 2022. The team has also had several Japanese players, including Yusei Kikuchi, who will play for the team in the 2024 season.
The first game at Daikin Park will be an exhibition match between the Astros and their Triple-A affiliate, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, on March 24, 2025. The regular season will kick off at Daikin Park on March 27, 2025, with a game against the New York Mets.
