Renowned South African pastor, musician, and Idols South Africa season 8 winner, Khaya Mthethwa, sparked mixed reactions with his recent social media post on parenting.

Over the weekend, the 36-year-old artist took to his platform to remind parents about the privilege of living with their children, highlighting the emotional challenges of drop-offs.

Kaya, who also serves as a radio and TV presenter alongside his pastoral duties at Oasis Church, has been open about his past marriage with former Miss South Africa, Ntando Kunene.

The couple, who share a son together, parted ways in 2019 after a two-year marriage, leading to a co-parenting arrangement.

In a candid interview with Wisdom and Wellness, Khaya spoke about his struggles post-divorce, especially during the isolating period of the COVID-19 lockdown.

He shared how the lockdown intensified his feelings of loneliness and led to a period of self-reflection, where he battled with depression and sleep issues.

Despite the personal challenges, both Khaya and Ntando chose to focus on co-parenting their child without resorting to legal battles over maintenance.

Following his recent social media post, reactions from the public varied, with some individuals expressing empathy for the difficulties of co-parenting and others criticizing Khaya for the choices he made in his marriage.

In one of his sermons, Khaya revealed that he had expressed doubts about his marriage as early as January 2018, suggesting that his current experiences might be a result of those past decisions.
