Inter Milan Roma Serie A Match April 2025

ROME, Italy — Inter Milan‘s title defense took a serious hit on April 27, 2025, when they lost 1-0 at home to AS Roma. The defeat left Inter’s lead at risk as they faced three consecutive losses, putting them level on points with Napoli at the top of the Serie A standings.

Matias Soule scored the match’s only goal in the 22nd minute, redirecting a deflection to give Roma the lead. Inter had begun the match with promise, but a disallowed goal due to offside and an early injury to defender Benjamin Pavard disrupted their flow.

“Three defeats in one week hurts, and we’re not used to that,” said Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. “We need to try and get our energy back.” The loss came just days after Inter suffered a 3-0 defeat in an Italian Cup semifinal against arch-rivals AC Milan.

With four matches remaining in the league, Inter is in a tight race for the championship. Roma’s victory moved them to sixth place with 60 points, leveling with Bologna and just two points shy of Juventus, who currently occupy the last Champions League qualification spot.

Juventus claimed a 2-0 victory over bottom-placed Monza earlier in the day as they looked to solidify their Champions League hopes. Nicolas Gonzalez and Randal Kolo Muani scored for the Old Lady, who played a portion of the match with ten men following a red card shown to Kenan Yildiz.

In other games, AC Milan bounced back from their recent defeat by defeating Venezia 2-0, with Christian Pulisic opening the scoring. This victory keeps Milan in the fight for a European place, currently sitting in ninth.

Elsewhere, Como secured a 1-0 win over Genoa, with Gabriel Strefezza scoring the match’s only goal. This victory ensures Como’s place in the top flight for another season.

The Italian league matches took place on Sunday after being postponed from Saturday due to the funeral of Pope Francis, with all matches observing a moment of silence to honor the late pontiff.
