International Yoga Day Celebrations In Kashmir: A Unifying Force For Health And Wellness

Marking the 10th International Day of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a significant gathering of yoga practitioners in Kashmir, against the picturesque backdrop of Dal Lake in Srinagar. Here, on the verdant lawns of SKICC, thousands of participants united in the practice of yoga to celebrate health and wellness.

During his address, Mr. Modi highlighted a unique initiative in Egypt where yoga was utilized to boost tourism. An intriguing competition held in Egypt showcased girls participating in yoga poses against the iconic backdrop of the Pyramids, underscoring the global appeal and tourism potential of yoga.

The event was originally planned to be held outdoors but had to be shifted indoors due to unexpected rain. Despite the weather challenges, Mr. Modi commended the participants for their dedication and resilience in continuing with the yoga session.

As part of the International Yoga Day celebrations, various activities and contests have been launched, including the Yoga Tech Challenge on the MyGov platform to promote innovations in yoga-related products. Additionally, the Yoga with Family video contest and the Yoga for Life Quiz by NCERT aim to engage individuals and families in the practice of yoga.

Notable figures including President Droupadi Murmu, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, and Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha, Om Birla, participated in yoga sessions across different locations in India. These events underscore the widespread participation and enthusiasm for yoga on the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day.
