Jack Della Maddalena Ufc 322 Title Defense

New York City, NY — UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena is set to defend his title for the first time against Islam Makhachev at UFC 322. The highly anticipated match will take place on November 15, 2025, as Della Maddalena showcases his fighting spirit by facing a top opponent without hesitation.

Makhachev, an accomplished fighter with a strong career history, is making his debut in the welterweight division. Despite the jump in weight class, Della Maddalena expressed his eagerness to confront any challengers the UFC presents.

If he successfully retains his title, Della Maddalena will have several contenders vying for a shot at the belt, including Sean Brady and Ian Machado Garry. However, one fighter seemingly falling out of contention is Shavkat Rakhmonov, who has not fought since his victory over Garry in 2024.

Della Maddalena discussed Rakhmonov’s status, noting, “I think the division has moved on. If you stay inactive, you kind of fall behind.” He emphasized that active fighters like Brady and Garry are maintaining their positions by staying busy in the octagon.

On the same night, Sean Brady will fight Michael Morales in a matchup that could push the winner closer to a title shot. Meanwhile, Garry is lined up to face former champion Belal Muhammad just a week following Della Maddalena’s defense.

With former champ Kamaru Usman also in the mix, the competition for the welterweight title is heating up. Della Maddalena remarked, “The next few weeks is a good time for the welterweights. It’s all the top guys are fighting each other.” He believes the upcoming fights will clarify the order of contenders.

As for Rakhmonov, he may need to return early in 2026 and secure a victory to regain relevancy in the title conversation. Della Maddalena summed it up, saying, “I think activity is key. You sit on the sidelines too long, you definitely fall behind.”
