The New York Jets have interviewed Mike Greenberg, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ assistant general manager, for their vacant general manager position, the team announced Friday. Greenberg, who has been with the Buccaneers since 2010, is known for his expertise in salary cap management and roster construction.

Greenberg has played a key role in building a Buccaneers roster that has won four consecutive NFC South titles and made five straight playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl victory in the 2020 season. He was promoted to assistant general manager ahead of the 2023 season after serving as vice president of football administration for two years. Prior to that, he held roles as director and coordinator of football administration.

Born and raised on Long Island, Greenberg graduated from Cornell University in 2007 with a degree in policy analysis and management. He later attended law school at Hofstra University, where the Jets’ facilities were located until 2008. Greenberg previously interviewed for the Carolina Panthers‘ general manager opening in 2024.

The Jets, led by Chairman Woody Johnson, are conducting a comprehensive search for both a general manager and head coach. They have enlisted The 33rd Team, a consulting firm, to assist in identifying and vetting candidates. Greenberg is among several executives the Jets have interviewed, including Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi, former Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick.

The team has also requested interviews with Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan and Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown. The Jets are seeking to fill the GM role after parting ways with their previous general manager earlier this year.
