Josh Hart Thriving as Knicks’ Starter, Sets Triple-Double Record

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Four months after transitioning from the bench to a starting role, Josh Hart has discovered a perfect fit with the New York Knicks, flourishing under a coach he praises. “The situation fits me perfectly, fits me like a glove,” Hart told Sports+. “Sometimes you got to have a coach that matches your crazy. And I got that.”
This season stands out as Hart’s most productive yet; he recently surpassed Walt Frazier to become the Knicks’ single-season leader in triple-doubles, achieving the milestone with nine.
Hart’s former coach, Chauncey Billups, recognized his potential as a distributor in Portland but noted that the Trail Blazers’ roster at the time limited his production. Now, in New York, Hart seems empowered to fully utilize his skills.
Meanwhile, Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is focusing on his performance as the playoffs approach, dialing back his social media engagement. Since Robinson’s return to the lineup in March, the team has witnessed significant improvement in its defensive metrics.
“I’ve been more focused on reintegrating with my teammates on the floor than on my offensive opportunities since my return,” Robinson stated.
Additionally, the Knicks are exploring roster adjustments, including the potential signing of G League center Moses Brown to strengthen their bench as the season concludes.
