Keanu Reeves Makes Auto Racing Debut at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves made his professional auto racing debut on Saturday at the renowned Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 60-year-old, known widely for his role in “The Matrix,” participated in the event as part of the Toyota GR Cup, a spec-racing series associated with the Indy 8 Hour sports car event.
Reeves qualified 31st out of a field of 35 cars and impressively climbed up to 21st position during the race. However, his race took a turn when he spun into the grass while exiting Turn 9, with approximately 21 minutes remaining in the 45-minute contest. This incident, fortunately, did not involve any collisions. Reeves managed to re-enter the track and continue racing, ultimately finishing in 25th place.
Driving the No. 92 BRZRKR car, Reeves is not only competing but also promoting his graphic novel “The Book of Elsewhere.” For this event, Reeves teamed up with Cody Jones, a member of the group known as Dude Perfect.
This venture into professional racing follows Reeves’ previous experience in motorsport, as he participated in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach’s celebrity race, winning the event in 2009.
Aside from his racing endeavors, Reeves is scheduled to attend a 30th-anniversary screening of the movie “Speed” in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The event will feature a reunion with his co-star Sandra Bullock.
