Knicks’ Offensive Surge Fuels Playoff Hopes Despite Defensive Woes

With a 63.4% win rate, the Knicks rank second in the NBA in offensive efficiency (120.5 points per 100 possessions) but sit at 17th in defensive efficiency (113.8 points allowed per 100 possessions). This marks a significant shift from last season, when they were more balanced, ranking seventh in offense and 10th in defense.

The team’s offensive resurgence is led by All-NBA performers Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. Anunoby, playing out of position as a power forward, has struggled, while Bridges and Hart have been inconsistent in their defensive roles.

The potential return of Mitchell Robinson, who has missed the entire season with an ankle injury, could provide a much-needed boost. “If Robinson returns and the defense improves, the Knicks could be a serious contender in the East,” said ESPN BET analyst Colin Keane. “But they’ll need to stay healthy and find a way to tighten up on defense.”
