Kyle Schwarber to Appear as Guest Picker for ESPN’s College GameDay at Indiana University
Kyle Schwarber, the prolific MLB slugger and former Indiana University baseball star, has been announced as the celebrity guest picker for ESPN‘s College GameDay. The show will be broadcast from Bloomington, Indiana, ahead of the highly anticipated Week 9 matchup between the Washington Huskies and the undefeated No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday.
Schwarber, who played baseball for the Hoosiers from 2012 to 2014, was a key figure in Indiana’s run to the College World Series in 2013. He was named an All-American twice during his collegiate career. After being drafted by the Chicago Cubs with the fourth overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, Schwarber has had a distinguished career, helping the Cubs win a World Series in 2016 and later playing for the Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox, and currently the Philadelphia Phillies.
Beyond his baseball achievements, Schwarber also has a notable high school football background. He played linebacker at Middletown High School in Ohio, earning Second Team All-Ohio Honors as a senior and leading his team to a 10-1 record. Despite receiving Division 1 offers to play football, Schwarber chose to pursue baseball at Indiana University.
The selection of Schwarber as the guest picker aligns with College GameDay’s tradition of featuring celebrities with ties to the host school or city. His appearance is expected to bring excitement and entertainment to the show, especially given his local connection and successful sports career.
