Lando Norris Claims Victory at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort
Lando Norris achieved a remarkable victory at the Dutch Grand Prix held at Circuit Zandvoort on Sunday, 25 August 2024. This win marks his second career victory in Formula 1, following his success in Miami earlier this year.
The race commenced with both Norris and his teammate Oscar Piastri losing positions at the start. However, Norris quickly settled into P2, with Piastri in P4. Norris showcased impressive pace during the first stint, soon gaining on the leader, Max Verstappen.
On Lap 17, Norris executed a successful pass on Verstappen, seizing the race lead. As pit stops began, Piastri was able to extend his stint in clean air. Both drivers made their pit stops for Hard tyres, Norris on Lap 28 and Piastri on Lap 33. Norris continued to extend his lead, while Piastri fought hard from P5.
Oscar Piastri made significant progress during the race, overtaking George Russell on Lap 39. However, he struggled to advance further as he remained caught in dirty air behind Charles Leclerc and could not secure a podium position.
<pNorris, demonstrating exceptional skill, set the fastest lap on his final lap, finishing the race with an impressive margin of 22.896 seconds over Verstappen, who finished in second place. Leclerc managed to hold off Piastri, who crossed the line in P4, collecting important points for the Constructors' Championship.
Team Principal Andrea Stella praised the team’s performance, citing the recent upgrades to the car as a key factor in their success. The team is focused on maintaining the momentum as they prepare for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix at the renowned Monza track.
