Lanka Premier League 2024 Set to Kick Off with Exciting Lineup of Matches
The much-anticipated Lanka Premier League 2024 is all set to kick off today, following the thrilling conclusion of the World Cup tournament. With Team India emerging victorious in the World Cup, cricket fans are now gearing up for the excitement of T20 leagues. The league’s opening match will feature the Candy Falcons against the Dambulla Sixers, starting at 7:30 PM local time.
In its inaugural edition, the Lanka Premier League saw a showdown between the Candy Falcons and Dambulla Sixers last year. The Falcons emerged victorious, defeating the Sixers by five wickets in the title clash, claiming their first championship.
A total of five teams will participate in the Lanka Premier League, with matches scheduled to be held at three stadiums in Sri Lanka. The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host 10 matches, while the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy will host 8 and 6 matches, respectively.
The teams include the Colombo Strikers captained by Thisara Perera, Dambulla Sixers led by Mohammed Nabi, Galle Marvels under the captaincy of Niroshan Dickwella, Jaffna Kings led by Charith Asalanka, and Candy Falcons captained by Vanindu Hasaranga.
