Leeds United Announce Match Officials For Clash Against Norwich City

The match officials for Leeds United‘s upcoming Sky Bet Championship clash against Norwich City have been officially announced. Matthew Donohue, a referee hailing from Southend and now based in Greater Manchester, will be the man in charge of the game.

This will be Donohue’s fifth season as a referee in the second tier, after being promoted to the Select Group 2 list of referees before the start of the 2019/20 season. He has already officiated a Leeds United fixture earlier this season, overseeing their 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road in August. In that match, he handed out four yellow cards to players from the Whites.

Donohue has also officiated two previous matches involving Norwich City, witnessing both a win and a draw for the Canaries. In these games, he only issued one yellow card to Norwich players. His most recent game officiating Norwich City was in December when they secured a 3-1 victory against Sheffield Wednesday.

Most recently, Donohue was the referee for Birmingham City‘s 2-2 draw with Swansea City on January 13th, during which he brandished eight yellow cards.

So far in the 2023/24 season, Donohue has officiated 19 matches across various competitions, issuing a total of 94 yellow cards and 2 red cards.

The other officials selected for this match are assistant referees Paul Hodskinson and Craig Taylor, with Jeremy Simpson as the fourth official.
