Mavs’ Rookie Lively II Listed as Doubtful for Game 4 with Neck Injury
The Dallas Mavericks are facing uncertainty as star rookie center Dereck Lively II is listed as doubtful for Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Lively sustained a neck injury in the previous game following a collision with Karl-Anthony Towns.
With Lively’s status uncertain, the Mavericks look to potentially elevate Maxi Kleber, who has been upgraded from out to questionable for the upcoming game scheduled at American Airlines Center.
In Lively’s absence, Dwight Powell stepped up in Game 3, showing the Mavericks’ ‘next-man up’ mentality. However, the team will heavily rely on starting center Daniel Gafford to fill the void left by Lively against the Timberwolves’ formidable frontcourt.
Despite the setback, the Mavericks lead the series 3-0, due in part to Lively’s contributions, averaging 9.7 points and 7.7 rebounds, shooting a perfect 13-for-13 from the field against the Timberwolves.
