McIlroy and Lowry Gear Up for Zurich Classic Round 3

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry face a challenging weekend at the 2025 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, starting their third round Saturday morning.
The duo, who are the defending champions, improved their position with a three-under-par 69 during Friday’s foursomes. They currently stand at 11 under and are hoping to close the gap on the leaders, Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo, who are at 17 under after shooting a 69 in the second round.
McIlroy and Lowry will tee off at 10:28 a.m. ET, alongside fellow competitors Cam Davis and Adam Svensson. The third round will follow a Four-ball format, where both players play each hole, and the best score counts toward their team total.
The tournament’s coverage will begin on CBS and Golf Channel, with Golf Channel airing from 1 to 3 p.m. ET, and CBS taking over from 3 to 6 p.m. ET. Fans can also stream the action online starting from 9 a.m. ET.
As the weekend unfolds, much attention will be on the weather. Conditions are predicted to be partly sunny with a high of 86 degrees and a significant chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. The Zurich Classic pits 80 two-player teams against each other in a unique team format, making it one of the highlights of the PGA Tour schedule.
With only two more rounds to go, McIlroy and Lowry know they must elevate their game to catch the leaders and successfully defend their title.
