Mike Evans Ties Record with Touchdown Against Falcons
Receiver Mike Evans achieved a notable milestone during Thursday night’s NFL game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons. On the first drive of the game, Evans scored his 98th career receiving touchdown, an effort that tied the match at 7-7. Quarterback Baker Mayfield delivered a precise pass to Evans, who was left wide open as Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell lost him in coverage.
This touchdown marks Evans’ 12th against the Falcons, equating him with the legendary Terrell Owens for the second-most receiving touchdowns against Atlanta. Beyond scoring touchdowns, Evans also made strides in his overall career statistics. He registered three receptions for 26 yards, moving ahead of Hall of Famer Michael Irvin to secure the 30th spot for most receiving yards in NFL history, with a career total surpassing Irvin’s 11,904 yards.
In addition to his on-field accomplishments, Evans surpassed former Buccaneers fullback Mike Alstott for the ninth-most games played by a Buccaneer, having appeared in 159 games. The night, however, also brought a setback for the Buccaneers as receiver Kameron Johnson was listed as questionable to return following a right ankle injury, which is an aggravation of an injury that previously sidelined him in Week 3.
