Mustafizur Rahman Cleared to Join Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025

New Delhi, India — Bangladesh’s left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is set to join the Delhi Capitals (DC) for the remaining matches of IPL 2025. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) granted him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) on Friday, allowing him to play from May 18 to May 24.
Mustafizur is expected to participate in Bangladesh’s first T20I against the UAE in Sharjah on Saturday before traveling to India. The BCB confirmed his availability for the IPL through a statement that emphasized his clearance for participation in the ongoing season.
DC’s next match is against the top-ranked Gujarat Titans (GT) at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday evening. It is unclear if Mustafizur will be included in the playing XI immediately upon his arrival.
He was signed by DC as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has withdrawn from the tournament due to personal reasons. Mustafizur’s initial signing faced delays as the BCB had not issued an NOC earlier, but now his addition is a boost for DC, particularly with Mitchell Starc unavailable.
Previously, Mustafizur played for DC in the 2022 and 2023 IPL seasons, accumulating a total of nine wickets over those two years. He has played 57 IPL matches overall, taking 61 wickets at an economy rate of 8.14. His experience will be crucial for DC as they aim to secure a playoffs spot.
DC began the season strongly, winning their first four matches but have recently struggled, needing to win all remaining games to qualify without relying on other results. Given the high temperature expected during the matches, the team will need all the support they can gather.
