Nepal And Oman T20 World Cup Qualification

AL AMERAT, Oman — Nepal and Oman have officially qualified for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after securing favorable results in the Asia and East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Qualifier on October 15, 2025. Both teams confirmed their spots even before their anticipated clash in the Super 6 stage later that evening.

Earlier in the day, Oman solidified its position by defeating Qatar, while the United Arab Emirates (UAE) triumphed over Samoa by 77 runs, ensuring that Nepal and Oman became the 18th and 19th teams to advance to the World Cup. They will join co-hosts India and Sri Lanka, as well as other elite cricketing nations, in the event set to take place from February 6 to March 7, 2026.

Nepal, nicknamed the ‘Rhinos’, have now qualified for the T20 World Cup for the third time, having previously competed in 2014 and 2024. Their performance in the qualifier has showcased their resilience, highlighted by thrilling victories that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Sandeep Lamichhane has been a standout player for Nepal, contributing significantly with ten wickets at an impressive average of 9.40 throughout the tournament. His efforts were crucial in helping the team dismiss Qatar in a tense match, leading to a nail-biting five-run victory.

Oman’s journey has also been remarkable, with the team delivering strong performances that saw them progressing through the qualifying stages smoothly. The left-arm seamer’s ability to take important wickets has been instrumental in building their defense during matches. With victories over quality teams, Oman reinforced its status as a rising force in international cricket.

As the Asia and EAP Qualifier continues, the final position will be determined among UAE, Samoa, Qatar, and Japan, who are still vying for the last remaining spot in the World Cup. The next match for Nepal is against Samoa, where a victory would grant them the title of champions in the qualifier.

The cricketing community is abuzz with anticipation as it prepares for a thrilling T20 World Cup later next year.
