Baltimore Orioles Stadium Thunderstorm

Baltimore, MD – The Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles halted their game Saturday after the first inning due to an approaching thunderstorm at Camden Yards.

The interruption came shortly before the two teams planned to compete in the series finale of their weekend matchup. The Royals were looking to win their fourth straight series and avoid a losing streak, having lost six games between April 14 and 19.

However, weather conditions played a critical role in the game’s proceedings. After a promising start, which saw pitchers Kris Bubic and Tomoyuki Sugano prevent any runs in the first inning, the heavy rain forced officials to delay the game.

As of now, the game is on hold, but there is optimism among Royals fans. Officials announced that play is set to resume at approximately 7:25 p.m. CT, pending weather conditions. Baltimore remains under a severe thunderstorm watch, raising concerns about the potential for further delays.

The rain is expected to persist with a likelihood exceeding 50% through 8 p.m. CT. The field is currently covered with a tarp as players await updates on the situation. Organizers have promised to provide more information as it becomes available.
