Ryan Seacrest Sued for Promoting Illegal Online Casino in California

LOS ANGELES, California — Ryan Seacrest is facing a lawsuit from a California resident who claims he is promoting an illegal online casino, Chumba Casino. The suit was filed by Aubrey Carillo, who alleges that she lost money due to Seacrest’s endorsement of the gamified betting platform.
Carillo contends that Seacrest’s social media promotions for ChumbaCasino.com and his appearances in the site’s advertisements violate California law. She argues that the online casino, which is banned in several states, should not be operating in California.
The lawsuit highlights concerns about online gambling addiction, claiming that Seacrest’s actions contribute to the problem among both adults and minors. Carillo states that at least one child in her family accessed the gambling site.
In her legal filing, Carillo is seeking an injunction to shut down Chumba Casino’s operations in California, in addition to stopping Seacrest from profiting from the site.
The lawsuit also cites a worrying trend: a significant increase in gambling addiction cases linked to online platforms. In recent years, calls to the National Problem Gambling Helpline have surged by 45 percent, indicating that many individuals are struggling with gambling-related issues.
Seacrest’s team has yet to respond publicly to the allegations. In the past, he expressed excitement about his partnership with Chumba Casino, stating, “Who doesn’t love games?” This new lawsuit puts his involvement under scrutiny as legal challenges to online gambling continue to grow.
