Schenn's Overtime Goal Lifts Blues Over Kings

The St. Louis Blues secured a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday, thanks to Brayden Schenn’s overtime goal just 1:04 into the extra period. The win marked the fifth consecutive victory for the Blues, who have now won three straight games in overtime. Schenn, in his 300th career game, contributed a goal and two assists, playing a pivotal role in three of the four goals for his team.

This victory also moved the Blues (26-20-2, 54 points) ahead of the Predators (26-22-1, 53 points) in the Western Conference standings, putting them in playoff contention. It was the third time in their history that the Blues have won three straight games in overtime.

Brayden Schenn’s game-winning goal was set up by a pass from his teammate, Robert Thomas. Schenn’s goal, his 13th of the season, sealed the victory for the Blues.

Unfortunately, the Kings continue to struggle, with a record of 2-8-6 in their last 16 games. Despite their recent struggles, the Kings had won their previous five matchups against the Blues.

Los Angeles managed to stay competitive throughout the game, with goals from Adrian Kempe, Dustin Brown, and Brendan Lemieux. However, it was not enough to overcome the determined Blues.

Goalie Jordan Binnington made 29 saves out of 32 shots faced, ensuring victory for the Blues, while the Kings’ goalie faced 32 shots and turned away 29 of them.

In the third period, the Blues’ Vladimir Tarasenko suffered a lower-body injury and had to leave the game. Tarasenko had contributed two assists before his departure.

In summary, the St. Louis Blues celebrated a hard-fought victory over the Los Angeles Kings, with Brayden Schenn’s overtime goal proving to be the difference maker. The win boosts the Blues’ playoff aspirations, while the struggling Kings continue to search for answers amidst their recent poor form.
