For the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian cricket team squad. The T20 series between India and Zimbabwe will consist of five matches starting on the 6th of July. Shubman Gill will be leading the team for this series.

Four first-time players have earned the opportunity to join the squad: Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Nitish Reddy, and Tushar Deshpande. These young talents showcased impressive performances during the 2024 IPL season which caught the attention of BCCI’s selection committee.

Senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are notably absent from the squad, making way for the inclusion of the new faces. Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, and other seasoned players have been omitted to provide rest after the T20 World Cup.

The series will mark the fourth bilateral T20 series between India and Zimbabwe. Previous series held in 2010, 2015, and 2016 have resulted in victories for India in 2010 and 2016 while a draw was seen in the 2015 series.

The first match of the T20 series is scheduled to commence on the 6th of July. All matches will be hosted at Harare Sports Club, offering an opportunity for the Indian players to further strengthen their performances post the T20 World Cup.
