Sling Freestream Adds 11 New Channels, Including ‘Kim’s Convenience’
Sling Freestream, the free streaming service from Sling TV, has expanded its offerings with the addition of 11 new channels, bringing its total to over 430 channels and 41,000 on-demand shows and movies. The latest update, reported by Cord Cutter News, includes a dedicated channel for the critically acclaimed Canadian sitcom “Kim's Convenience.”
The new additions come just months after Sling Freestream added dozens of channels in July, including popular titles like “Doctor Who,” “Baywatch,” and “Top Gear.” While the latest batch of channels may not feature as many high-profile names, the inclusion of “Kim’s Convenience” is a standout. The show, which follows a Korean-Canadian family running a convenience store in Toronto, boasts a 100% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes across its five seasons.
Other new channels include Homeful, focused on home improvement, and a channel dedicated to “The Life and Times of Wyatt Earp,” the first Western TV show written for adults. The full list of new channels has not been disclosed, but the expansion underscores Sling’s commitment to providing diverse content for its free streaming platform.
“Kim’s Convenience” has gained a cult following, particularly in Canada, where it won numerous awards and nominations. The show also served as a launching pad for actor Simu Liu, who went on to star in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and had a supporting role in “Barbie.” Despite its critical success, the series remains relatively unknown outside Canada, making its addition to Sling Freestream a significant opportunity for new audiences to discover it.
Sling Freestream continues to position itself as a strong alternative to traditional cable and paid streaming services, offering a wide range of free content supported by ads. The latest update reinforces its appeal to cord-cutters seeking affordable entertainment options.
