Stan Bowman Named New General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers have officially announced the hiring of Stan Bowman as their new general manager and vice president of hockey operations.
This exciting news came out Wednesday morning, with Oilers CEO of hockey operations, Jeff Jackson, expressing his enthusiasm in a press release.
Jackson highlighted Bowman’s extensive experience and past success, believing that this knowledge will greatly benefit the team’s aim to be top-notch in all areas.
Bowman, 51, has had a long career in hockey, spending two decades with the Chicago Blackhawks, including a notable 12-year run as their GM from 2009 to 2021.
During his time with the Blackhawks, he celebrated three Stanley Cup victories in 2010, 2013, and 2015, while also achieving a solid record of 493 wins, 310 losses, and 109 ties.
His return to the NHL comes after a ban due to the fallout from a sexual assault scandal involving the Blackhawks, a situation that has had profound implications for many individuals involved.
In July, the NHL lifted Bowman’s ban alongside Quenneville and MacIsaac, allowing them to rejoin the league after completing important personal development programs.
The Oilers are now looking forward to a media availability where both Jackson and Bowman will discuss their plans and vision for the future of the team.
