Star-Studded IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony Set for Kolkata

KOLKATA, India — The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off with a spectacular opening ceremony at Eden Gardens on March 22, featuring numerous Bollywood stars and global musical acts.

According to sources familiar with the event, notable attendees will include Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Shraddha Kapoor, among others. Shah Rukh Khan, a co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is expected to attend as his team plays the opening match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

“The presence of these celebrities is expected to elevate the excitement and glamour of the ceremony,” a source told Hindustan Times. “Salman Khan’s appearance is also anticipated as he promotes his upcoming action film, Sikandar.”

The ceremony will showcase dynamic performances by artists like Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Disha Patani, and Karan Aujla, who have been confirmed to perform during the event. American pop band OneRepublic is also in discussions to add an international flair to the festivities.

A comprehensive guest list is reportedly in the works, featuring additional Bollywood stars such as Priyanka Chopra, Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Madhuri Dixit, and Kareena Kapoor. “The ceremony will be a vibrant mix of high-energy performances and captivating music,” added the source.

This year, IPL marks its 18th season, promising a total of 74 matches to be played across 13 venues, culminating in the final match set for May 25. The tournament maintains its structure with 10 teams divided into two groups, replicating the format from previous seasons.

The event signals a strong start to what fans hope will be an exhilarating season, with KKR facing RCB in the opening match. The IPL 2025 season will highlight the growing popularity of cricket intertwined with the glitz of entertainment.
