Stuttgart Open 2025 Tennis Matches

STUTTGART, Germany (AP) — The WTA Stuttgart Open 2025 is heating up as American stars Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, and Emma Navarro prepare for an exciting Day Four of tennis action. With the Round of 16 underway, these talented athletes are determined to battle for a spot in the Quarter-Finals.

Among today’s highlights, rising star Mirra Andreeva will compete against Ekaterina Alexandrova in what promises to be a thrilling match. Andreeva, who has demonstrated considerable promise, enters the match following impressive performances. Her recent success has generated anticipation for her ability to secure a Quarter-Final position.

In another key matchup, Jasmine Paolini takes on German player Jule Niemeier. The No. 5 seed, Paolini, advanced rapidly through her opening match, defeating Eva Lys in just 1 hour and 4 minutes with a score of 6-2, 6-1, showcasing her solid form.

Jessica Pegula, coming off a championship win in Charleston, aims to continue her clay court success against Magdalena Frech in the Round of 16. Having reached the finals in Miami and recently added another title to her résumé, Pegula is poised to maintain her momentum in Stuttgart.

Coco Gauff, another American contender, faces Ella Seidel in what is expected to be a competitive matchup. Gauff has been searching for consistency after a recent victory over Tatjana Maria, and this match will serve as a critical test of her resilience.

Emma Navarro takes the stage against 2017 Roland Garros champion Jelena Ostapenko in an important clash. Navarro made a striking debut in Stuttgart, decisively defeating Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-3, 6-0 in her opening round, highlighting her aggressive style with 24 winners. However, Ostapenko also has a strong showing, having advanced past Dayana Yastremska after the match was decided due to the latter’s retirement from illness, leading Ostapenko to express her regret about the match’s circumstances.

The day’s action will start with Andreeva and Alexandrova at 12:30 PM local time, followed by Paolini and Niemeier at 1:40 PM. Pegula’s match starts at 5:00 PM, with Gauff’s scheduled for 6:30 PM, and Navarro wrapping up the day against Ostapenko at 7:40 PM.

Earlier matches saw Iga Swiatek secure her Quarter-Final spot after a dominant performance against her opponent, winning 6-2, 6-2 in only 76 minutes. Swiatek, a two-time Stuttgart champion, now holds an 11-1 record in WTA 500 tournaments.

Emotions ran high as Andreeva defeated her sister Erika, who had to retire with a knee injury, leading to a heartfelt tribute from Mirra. ‘If she didn’t start playing tennis before me, I don’t think I would play that well this fast,’ Andreeva said. ‘Because of her, it was easier for me to start playing bigger tournaments right away.’

As the tournament progresses, the competition remains fierce, with top players including Swiatek and Ostapenko vying for glory. Fans eagerly await potential matchups, particularly between Swiatek and Ostapenko, prolonging the excitement as the Round of 16 unfolds.

With the stakes rising, tennis enthusiasts can look forward to an action-packed day of spectacular matches at the Stuttgart Open, where resilience and skill will dictate who advances to the prestigious Quarter-Finals.
