ASHBURN, Va. — Terry McLaurin, wide receiver for the Washington Commanders, is in search of a new contract as he heads into the final year of his three-year, $68.4 million deal. McLaurin has been a reliable performer, posting over 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last five seasons, including a career-high 13 touchdowns in 2024.

As contract negotiations appear stagnant, McLaurin has reportedly expressed frustration, leaving voluntary workouts unexpectedly this past week. The Commanders, renowned for their comeback during last season’s NFC Championship Game, recognize the importance of retaining McLaurin as they prepare for the 2025 season.

If a deal cannot be finalized before training camp, several teams may show interest in trading for the two-time Pro Bowler. Potential trade destinations include the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers, all of whom seek to bolster their receiving corps.

The Cardinals, who recently drafted Marvin Harrison Jr., could pair him with McLaurin, creating a formidable duo for quarterback Kyler Murray. Meanwhile, the Broncos, coming off a successful season with rookie quarterback Bo Nix, may also benefit significantly from McLaurin’s skill set.

For the Chargers, adding McLaurin could address their need for a top receiver, especially after a season where they struggled with consistent performances from their receiving group.

As the Commanders weigh their options, McLaurin’s future remains uncertain. Should the two sides be unable to reach an agreement, trade talks may intensify leading up to Week 1 of the upcoming NFL season.
