Titans Face Draft Dilemma with Limited Picks, Eye Quarterback Shakeup
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft but face a challenging scenario with only eight selections, including just two within the top 100. For a team in desperate need of multiple starters, the limited draft capital presents a significant hurdle.
The Titans’ strategy hinges on whether they trade back from the top spot to accumulate more picks. If they retain their current selections, prioritizing impact players over positional needs will be crucial. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders of Colorado emerges as a potential target, despite not being the consensus top prospect. Sanders’ ability to process the field and deliver accurate throws aligns with the preferences of Titans head coach Brian Callahan.
“Sanders isn’t Joe Burrow, but he’s got a better chance of running a Burrow-style offense than any of the Titans quarterbacks from 2024 did,” said Nick Suss, Titans beat writer for The Tennessean. The team’s 2024 season was marred by the underwhelming performance of Will Levis, who threw 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 12 starts before being replaced.
Beyond quarterback, the Titans could address their pass rush with prospects like Abdul Carter of Penn State or Princely Umanmielen, who recorded 10.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss in 2024. Umanmielen’s speed-rushing ability could fill a critical gap in the Titans’ defense.
In later rounds, the Titans might target local talent like Tennessee‘s Tyler Baron, who logged 19 sacks in college, or Alabama defensive back Malachi Moore, a versatile playmaker with 25 pass breakups and seven interceptions. Offensive line depth could come from Oregon‘s Ajani Cornelius, while Vanderbilt transfer Will Sheppard could reunite with Sanders to bolster the receiving corps.
As the draft approaches, the Titans must balance immediate needs with long-term potential. With limited picks, every selection will carry heightened importance for a franchise looking to rebound from a disappointing 2024 season.
