Tony Khan Hails Harley Cameron Ahead of Grand Slam Australia Title Shot

BRISBANE, Australia — AEW President Tony Khan praised wrestler Harley Cameron‘s exceptional progress as a performer during a recent interview on “Wrestle Radio Australia.” Cameron is set to challenge TBS Champion Mercedes Mone at the AEW Grand Slam event this weekend.
Khan highlighted Cameron’s hard work and dedication to her craft, stating, “She’s had great matches. She’s been doing a great job. Harley’s had a bunch of great matches in that time. She’s been doing great promos, but I think it’s important to point out that Harley works really hard on wrestling and she’s gotten much much much better in the past year.”
“She’s really an amazing athlete,” he continued. “What she’s done for her experience level is impressive. I think Harley Cameron does so many things well. She’s a great singer, she’s a great actress, she’s very talented, but she’s also become an excellent wrestler and she’s improving so fast. We’ve seen her get better and better in the ring, and this is a massive opportunity for Harley Cameron in her home country in front of these fans that will believe in her.”
Cameron gained significant attention for her performance leading up to this title shot, where she has wrestled less than three years and competed in fewer than 100 matches. During this period, she has grown both in the ring and on the microphone, establishing herself as a notable talent within the AEW women’s division.
In addition to Khan’s comments, wrestler Cope shared his views on injuries during a separate broadcast, stating, “I look at injuries as challenges. You know, I try to reframe them as opposed to a kind of demoralizing thing. It’s part of what we do. Find me a wrestler who’s never been injured. It’s impossible.”
Harley Cameron’s upcoming match is anticipated to draw a significant crowd in Brisbane, with fans eager to support a local talent facing a formidable opponent in Mone. Many see this matchup as a pivotal moment for Cameron’s career and a testament to AEW’s commitment to nurturing emerging wrestlers.
