Tottenham Hotspur clinched a spot in the UEFA Europa League after defeating Sheffield United 3-0 in their final Premier League game of the season.

The victory solidified their fifth-place finish in the Premier League, granting them entry into next season’s UEFA Europa League competition.

The tournament has undergone changes from the previous format, with a new single 36-team league stage replacing the group stage set-up.

In this format, each team will play eight different opponents once, and the top eight will progress directly to the round of 16.

Teams ranking from ninth to 24th will battle in knockout round play-offs for a chance to advance to the next stage.

The competition will feature two-legged ties until the final, scheduled to take place on 21 May, 2025, at the Estadio de San Mamés in Bilbao, Spain.

For the initial stages, some clubs will go through three qualifying rounds and a play-off in July and August.

Tottenham Hotspur, however, has secured a direct qualification to the league stage by finishing fifth in the Premier League.

The draw for the league stage will occur on 29 August, 2024, with matchdays set as per the following schedule.

Matchday 1: 25/26 September, 2024
Matchday 2: 3 October, 2024
Matchday 3: 24 October, 2024
Matchday 4: 7 November, 2024
Matchday 5: 28 November, 2024
Matchday 6: 12 December, 2024
Matchday 7: 23 January, 2025
Matchday 8: 30 January, 2025

As the season progresses, the knockout stage will begin, determining the victor who will earn a spot in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
